MetroCentre is located on the National Cycle Network - the Keelmans Way and the Three Rivers Cycle Route (Route 14). The route passes to the north of the Centre.

The Sea to Sea (C2C) cycle route and Hadrian Cycleway (Route 72) also pass close by and there is a link via the Cross Lane cycleway to Whickham.

MetroCentre also has a shared use cycleway / footpath which runs around the outside of the Centre.
